Wando grad takes role in Super Bowl commercial, short film

Posted: Updated:

WINTER PARK, Fla. (WCIV) -- A Wando High School graduate introduced millions of people to her boyfriend, a returning soldier, during the Super Bowl Sunday night.

According to the Charleston County School District, Shannon Cantwell was a Wando student who was half of a featured couple in Budweiser's "Hero's Welcome" ad that aired during the Super Bowl.

The ad created an emotional buzz on social media and many consider it one of the best spots of the night.

According to the short film on YouTube, Cantwell was told by a friend about the VFW's contest to find a soldier's story to tell that would represent all soldiers stationed overseas. Cantwell thought her boyfriend, Lt. Chuck Nadd, would be perfect.

And so did the VFW and Budweiser.
