ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCIV) -– Orangeburg County Sheriff's deputies made an arrest and confiscated poker machines from a bar in  Eutawville last week.

According to a report, deputies responded to JB Fish Tales Bar on Old Number 6 Hwy and found three "illegal countertop machines." Deputies said the owner, John Calvin Sikes, admitted that a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agent had told him the machines were illegal.

"Sweepstakes machines are illegal because of state law not Ravenell's law. I can not make this any clearer," said Sheriff Leroy Ravenell. "Individuals and business owners who are still in possession of illegal poker machines, we will remove the machines and arrest. If you would rather make a couple extra dollars than remove the machines, we are more than happy to allow you to spend some time in jail."

Sikes was arrested on Friday, Jan. 31 and given a $5,000 personal recognizance bond on Saturday.
