Conveyor belt catches fire at Georgetown paper mill

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCIV) -- No one was in juried in an overnight fire at International Paper Co.

Officials with Georgetown County Fire and EMS said the fire started at about 11 p.m. Friday in an enclosed conveyor belt that carries wood chips and bark.

Officials said they do not know why the chips caught fire.

The conveyer belt is about 90 feet in the air.

Officials said it took about three hours to get the fire under control.
