NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- An altercation in a parking lot Monday afternoon led to a fatal shooting in North Charleston, police say.

According to police, the shooting happened at the Siesta Motor Lodge at 4044 Rivers Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. Police say two men were involved in a fight in the parking lot when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other.

The victim was taken to Medical University Hospital in serious condition. He later died, police said Tuesday. The coroner's office identified him as 31-year-old Markay Deveaux, of North Charleston.

Police have already taken the suspect into custody, officers said. Police identified the suspect as Walter Graham Jr.

Police said that the victim and Graham's daughter were involved in a relationship, and that is how the two knew each other.

The coroner's office has not released the identity of the victim yet.
