Meeting Street closed after 18 wheeler hits utility pole

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A spokesperson with the Charleston Police said an 18 wheeler hit a utility pole, shutting down part of Meeting Street Tuesday morning.

According to CPD officials, Meeting Street at Wolfe St. was shut down to traffic after the 18 wheeler struck a utility pole. It opened back up around 3 p.m.

SCE&G crews responded to make repairs and traffic was diverted.

Police have not released any information about the 18 wheeler but did say the driver left the scene of the accident.

According to the SCE&G outage map, 66 customers were affected. Repairs were completed later that afternoon.
