Posted: Updated:

LADSON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Officials with the Dorchester County Coroner's Office have announced another death from the flu.

Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nesbit identified the deceased as 43-year-old Scott Dalton of Ladson. His death was ruled natural, sepsis and pneumonia due to influenza.

Nesbit said Dalton was diagnosed with the flu at Nason Medical Center on Feb. 7 and was treated but did not get better. Nesbit said the man went to see his regular doctor for further treatment but developed more problems including Strep A.

Dalton passed away on Feb. 14, a week after he was diagnosed.

According to the Center for Disease Control, there have been 60 flu-related deaths in South Carolina since September of last year.

Last month officials with MUSC confirmed the flu-related death of a 34-year-old patient. Last month also saw another flu death from Dorchester County when a 39-year-old man died from Strain B Influenza.
