MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WCIV/WPDE) -- A couple, charged with kidnapping on Sunday in connection with the disappearance of Heather Elvis, have now been charged with murder.

According to WPDE, the ABC affiliate in Myrtle Beach, Chief Rhodes with Horry County Police announced the charges at a press conference held Monday morning. Chief Rhodes said Sidney and Tammy Moorer will be charged with Murder in the Heather Elvis case.

Rhodes said that evidence found in the Moorer's home led to the charges, even though a body has not been found.

Tammy Moorer, 41, and her husband, Sidney Moorer, 38, are also each charged with two counts of indecent exposure and one count of obstruction of justice.

The two were arrested on around 7 a.m. Friday on Highway 814.

According to WPDE, investigators got new information on the case after experts looked at surveillance videos and found "financial discrepancies" involving the people who live in the home.

WPDE reported Lt. Robert Kegler with the Horry County Police Department confirmed the connection to the missing girl's case but did not say how.

After the initial charges filed on Saturday, Horry County Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said he had plans to file more severe charges against the couple.

"Anything that we release at this point could jeopardize the case. We've got to be really tight fisted on that stuff," he said. "Certainly not trying to deprive the public or the family of any information but right now it could do more harm than good."

Elvis was last heard from in the early morning hours of Dec. 18 after she went on a date, according to her family.

About a month ago, police arrested and charged two men in connection with interfering with the investigation after they posted misleading information on a social media site regarding her disappearance.

Fifty-two-year-old William Christopher Barrett and 25-year-old Garrett Ryan Starnes were arrested in the interference case. Officials said it led to officer tracking down false leads.

Terry Elvis says Barrett has been a friend for five years. Elvis said he did not know Starnes.

If you have any information about Elvis' disappearance, you are asked to call the Myrtle Beach Police Department at (843) 918-1382.
