'Paws Go Red' at James Island County Park

Posted: Updated:

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- You've probably heard about going red for women, but the campaign isn't just for humans.

Dogs and their owners had the chance to get a heart health screening this weekend thanks to the 'Go Red for Women' campaign and MUSC's Heart and Vascular Center.

Folks gathered at James Island County Park for the screenings, a walk and a 'Go Red' costume competition.

Veterinarians say you can keep a dogs heart healthy by keeping them at a healthy weight and putting them on a heartworm prevention.
