Mardi Gras 'Pawrade' held in Mount Pleasant

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Fat Tuesday is just around the corner and Sunday, people got in the spirit by bringing their furry friends out for a Mardi Gras 'Pawrade.'

The Krewe of Charles II hosted the event at Palmetto Island County Park.

The walking parade featured canines and their owners in costumes and on floats.

Dogs were judged based on their costumes and got their very own 'Pawscars' in honor of Sunday night's Academy Awards.

ABC News 4's Bill Burr was one of the guest judges.

Organizers said some of proceeds from the event will go to the Waters Edge Animal Rescue.

This was the first year for the event but organizers hope to have it again next year.
