NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – A student on a school bus headed to Fort Dorchester Elementary was carrying a multi-purpose tool with a knife.

According to district officials, the third-grade student was showing the tool to other students on the bus. When the bus made it to school, another student told the assistant principal about the incident.

District officials said the assistant principal took the tool from the student. The school's resource officer also looked into the incident.

The district said "appropriate measures have been taken," but did not outline what those were.
