CHARLESTON, S.C. ( WCIV) -- The 9th annual BB&T Charleston Wine and Food Festival is officially underway in Charleston.

The four-day event has everything from seminars, to parties, to an open-air market.

The dreary weather didn't dampen the spirits of those setting up for the Open Air Artisan Market, which features all kinds of products from jams to candles.

"People come here to find unique and different items, so you immediately set yourself apart because you are a part of the food and wine festival,' said Sallie Porth, owner of Sallie's Greatest.

Porth's company makes herbal fruit jams in Cameron, SC. This is the second year she's been a part of the festival.

"I'm looking for exposure to different chefs and how they can take my product and turn it into an ingredient for them," said Porth. "We are looking for exposure outside of South Carolina as well."

It seems like that is what other companies are hoping for too, especially Produce Candles, which just got started about a month ago. The festival is the first big local event for the sister brand of ReWined Candles.

"Charleston is such a foodie town and its only growing to be that with restaurant weeks and I think with our product with Rewined and Produce - it's very much that organic, fresh lifestyle, farmers market lifestyle so we really feel like it would be a great outlet for both brands," said Sara Crosby.

This market is just one of the more than 100 events going on during the four-day festival. It is a big draw every year, with more than 20,000 people attending in 2013.

The Culinary Village is located in Marion Square but there the events are spread throughout the Charleston area.
