Two-year-old boy receives new wheelchair

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A two-year-old boy with physical disabilities received a new wheelchair from a nonprofit Saturday morning.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids presented Miller with his wheelchair at Cannon Park.

Miller has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type II. That means his mobility, strength and muscular function will continue to decrease over time.

Miller has never walked but his family says he is an active young boy who seeks independence.

He needed a lightweight wheelchair so he could not only be independent but so he can use his muscles to maintain his strength for a longer period of time.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids is dedicated to improving the lives of children with physical disabilities by providing safe wheelchairs, home and vehicle modifications, as other assistive devices.
