Crime Stoppers March 15: Robert Farrow's death unsolved

Robert Farrow's case is cold. He was killed in 2006. Just because it's been years since his death, you can help. Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper explains how.

"I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper.

We believe Robert Farrow was running from his killer, but he didn't get away. Farrow was shot and killed before he made it over a privacy fence.

It was April 13, 2006. Police were called to the 800 block of Tarpon Drive. When they got there, Farrow was in the backyard near the fence. He had been shot one time in the back. Several witnesses told us that earlier in the morning, they heard a loud noise. But no one said they saw anything unusual during the night.

There are many missing pieces to this story. Why would someone target Farrow? Did he have something someone else wanted? Were there any long-standing feuds between him and someone else?

We cannot afford to let his killer kill again. But we understand, you might be afraid to talk. That's why when you call Crime Stoppers, we don't record the call. We never use caller ID.

Your call will not only help us find Farrow's killer but it could also help prevent another killing in the future. So think back to what happened.

With Crime Stoppers, I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper."

You can reach Crime Stoppers anytime at (205) 254-7777.

Also, you can text 7777, along with your tip, to the word "CRIMES." Or if you prefer to send an encrypted tip online, go to www.crimestoppersmetroal.com click on the "submit an online tip" link.

No matter which method you choose, you will remain anonymous. Each tipster receives a private code number. If an arrest is made based on an individual's tip, the tipster can use the code number to claim a cash reward.

Crime Stoppers cannot call tipsters to testify in court.

Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama is a partnership between local law enforcement, the Birmingham Business Alliance and ABC 33/40. Together, our goal is to make our community a safer place to live and work.
