Inattentive Semi-Truck Driver Rams Two Vehicles on I-44

Posted: Updated:

A three-vehicle wreck involving two semi-trucks at approximately 8:43 a.m. this morning left three with minor injuries.

The accident occurred on I-44 westbound near Harvard and roadways were temporarily shut down in that area due to spills from the semi-trucks and because of debris in the roadway.

Lieutenant Brian Orr of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said one semi-truck was traveling westbound with a Hyundai vehicle behind it. A second semi-truck was following the Hyundai. The driver of the second semi-truck reportedly wasn't paying attention and slammed into the Hyundai, pushing it aside and causing it to rollover.

The second semi-truck then rammed into the rear of the first semi-truck and caught fire. The fire was put out quickly by authorities on scene.

Three were injured in the collision but all injuries were minor and the victims were treated and released.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
