Lake View councilman charged for selling prescription drugs

LAKE VIEW - AL -

A Lake View councilman is charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.The police chief says 54 year old Michael Nichols sold prescription medication to an undercover informant.

Nichols turned himself in and was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail Friday.

According to the police chief, an informant brought up Nichols' name during a discussion about local drug dealers. He says the informant was sent undercover to Nichols' house earlier this month where he purchased Adderall.

Police attempted to serve an arrest warrant Thursday. Nichols agreed to turn himself in Friday.

Nichols has bonded out.

    The Federal Aviation Administration said Monday it is proposing a $12 million civil fine against Southwest Airlines for failing to comply with safety regulations related to repairs on Boeing 737 jetliners.
