Bartlesville Woman May Have Drowned after Wreck

Posted: Updated:

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a 44-year-old Bartlesville woman is dead after an accident Sunday night sent her into a creek.

The vehicle was reportedly headed westbound shortly before 8 p.m. on County Road in Washington County, one mile south of Bartlesville, when the driver was left of center on the road, met another vehicle, and ran off the right side of the road.

Then, the driver, Sherry L. Hockett, 44, reportedly over-corrected and ran off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail, which caused the vehicle to overturn onto its top. The vehicle came to rest on its top in a creek.

OHP authorities believe she was pinned for about 13 minutes and may have drowned.

One passenger in the vehicle, Rusty Hockett, 45, refused treatment at the scene.
