Estranged couple dies in murder-suicide in Jefferson County

Posted: Updated:

Domestic violence ends in a murder-suicide in Jefferson County.  Sheriff deputies were called to a home in the 550 block of McWaine Drive near McCalla just after 10:00 Sunday night.  26 year old, Angelica Jones, was shot in the incident.  Jones was taken to an area hospital where she later died from her injuries.  The suspect, 38 year old Eddie Bradford of Ensley, died on the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot.

Deputies say Bradford and Jones has been in a dating relationship.  Jones had recently ended the relationship.  Bradford would not accept that the relationship was over and made threats to kill Jones if they did not get back together.

Detectives found Bradford's car about half a mile away hidden behind a church.  It appears he parked there and walked to the home to confront Jones.  During the argument, deputies say he pulled out a handgun and shot her before turning the gun on himself.
