CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP/WCIV) - A James Island man has been sentenced to life in prison in the 2012 shooting death of a man on Wadmalaw Island.

Twenty-eight-year-old Kevin Lamar Howard was convicted of murder, kidnapping and burglary on Wednesday in Charleston.

Prosecutors say he killed his cousin, 24-year-old Adrian L. Lyles Jr. of Charleston, whom he had called a "snitch."

Twenty-two-year-old Broderick William Seay Jr. of Charleston was arrested last week and charged with murder. Police say Seay had been with Howard when police arrested him during a traffic stop in Summerville two years ago.

Witnesses testified that Howard and another man abducted Lyles from his apartment. Lyles body was found the next day on a remote road on Wadmalaw Island.

Officials from the solicitor's office said evidence at trial revealed that Howard repeatedly attempted to lure people into establishing a fake alibi.

They also said in a statement Howard told at least two witnesses that Lyles was not only a "snitch" but that his name was "stank on the street."

Investigators say Lyles had been shot 10 times with three different weapons. Six of those times were in the head.

Howard was sentenced to thirty years on the Burglary charge, thirty years on the Kidnapping charge, and Life on the Murder charge, all to be served consecutively.
