SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- Human remains were found in a home in Summerville Thursday afternoon.
According to the Dorchester County Coroner's Office, the remains were found by a man who photographs abandoned homes. The home is on Parsons Road, officials said.
Around 3 p.m., the photographer looked into a home and saw the remains of what appears to be a man, the coroner said. However, due to decomposition, gender would have to be determined after an anthropologist studied the remains.
"The individual is what I would classify as a skeleton with mummification also. It also appears the decedent was fully clothed at the time they died there or were placed there," said Coroner Chris Nisbet.
On Friday, Nisbet said the body had been dead at least five years. Officials have not identified the man yet.
The case is being investigated by the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.
