SCE&G linemen shave heads for 6-year-old with leukemia

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) – SCE&G coworkers and friends shaved their heads today in support of a little girl named Emma.

Emma Bostian is the 6-year-old daughter of SCE&G lineman Thad Bostian, and she was diagnosed with leukemia in October. Since then, Emma has undergone treatments and lost her hair.

So, to show support, her dad and several of his coworkers and supervisors shaved their heads on Friday. Thad Bostian was moved by the show of support.

"It makes me happy to know that there's people out there that are willing to do stuff for my family," he said.

One of the linemen who ditched his ‘do for Emma said the group may work together, but it's more like a family.

"We are a tight-knit group and we thought that Emma was an inspiration to us to see her going through the treatment and what she's going through," said Joe Griffin, an SCE&G line supervisor. "If she can be as bubbly and as active as she is, we wanted to be just like her."

That Bostian said they talked about shaving their heads after the diagnosis in October, but it really came together when Emma's hair started falling out.
