Charleston police being inspected, invite your input

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies are paying a visit to check out the Charleston Police Department and the public's feedback counts.

The inspectors arrived on Sunday to look at Charleston police procedures, policies, management, operations and support services. Their findings will determine whether or not the department gets re-accredited.

As part of the inspection process, the Charleston community, department employees, as well as any member of the general public is invited to comment on the police department's compliance with CALEA standards.

To make your opinion heard you can either show up to a public hearing to be held Monday or call (843)720-2405 between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Court Room in the Greenberg Municipal Building on Lockwood Boulevard.

Persons preferring to offer written comments about the Police Department's ability to meet the Standards for Accreditation may address those comments to:
