Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Fort Dorchester High School student was arrested Friday morning after officials say he took a gun to school.

According to district officials, the student had the unloaded gun with him during gym class. Another student saw it when it fell from his pocket and told a teacher.

The gun was taken, officials said, and the student was taken into police custody.

Officials said the student who had the gun had just transferred to the school.

The North Charleston Police Department is investigating the incident.
