Airmen train for worst-case scenarios

Posted: Updated:

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (MUSC) – Airmen set to deploy have to be ready for anything. On Tuesday, a training event at Joint Base Charleston is all about making sure airmen are ready for a wide variety of emergencies.

Managers from the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron will be preparing for different scenarios in training courses Tuesday.

Base leaders say the hands-on training will teach airmen what to do during potential chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear attacks.

The training will cover potential life-saving skills like basic decontamination procedures, how to identify unexploded objects, and how to wear the correct protective gear.

Select airmen are required to take these certain training exercises every two years.
