Berkeley County needs poll managers for June primary

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) – The Berkeley County Board of Elections is looking for poll managers for the 2014 primary election in June.

The poll managers will work in several locations throughout the county on election day, June 10, including Daniel Island, Hanahan and Goose Creek.

A poll manager will help process voters, distribute ballots, activate the voting machines, and make sure the polling location is in compliance with election procedures and laws.

Pay for a poll manager is $60 for training and $60 for working on election day. Berkeley County is also offering a $25 stipend for a total of $145. Students who are 16 or 17 years old may apply to be poll managers even though they are not allowed to vote.

Applicants must be registered to vote in Berkeley, Charleston, Clarendon, Dorchester, Georgetown, Orangeburg or Williamsburg counties.

Applicants must be able to attend a three-hour training session and pass a written test. Those who pass must also be able to work from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.
