Easter across the Lowcountry: The hunt is on

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- All over the Lowcountry, kids were on the prowl for Easter eggs Saturday.

In Goose Creek, it was a little rocky as kids had to keep their eye out for golden rocks hidden amongst the eggs. Finding a gold rock got them a special prize.

Over in North Charleston, District 42 Sen. Marlon Kimpson hosted an Easter Egg Hunt at the Felix Pinckney Community Center. There was music, prizes and a host of other events for children to enjoy.

The senator said the event helps focus on what's important.

"You have to remember what Easter stands for and it's important to get out into the community," he said. "I brought my favorite Easter bunny - my daughter Marley - and had some fun for the community."

There were various other Easter egg hunts at neighborhood community centers and churches. If you missed the ones held today, there are more planned for tomorrow.

Blackbeard's Cove will hold their egg hunt in Mt. Pleasant at 2 p.m.

Eggs, crafts, jump castles and light refreshments are planned at the Bees Landing Rec Center in West Ashley. The fun starts there at 1 p.m.
