Pinewood’s Patel retains geography bee title for 4th year

Posted: Updated:

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) – If there's one thing Pinewood Prep eighth grader Krish Patel knows, it's geography. That knowledge has landed him a fourth state title in the National Geographic Bee.

Earlier this month, more than 100 elementary and middle school students competed in state-level competitions of the National Geographic Bee. For the fourth year in a row, Patel proved to be the king of geography.

For his knowledge, Patel won $100, two world atlases and a weather station. In May, he and his parents will travel to Washington, D.C. to compete in the National Geographic Bee championships.

The winner of the national competition will win a $50,000 college scholarship, lifetime membership to the National Geographic Society, and an all-expenses paid trip to the Galapagos Islands as a member of the National Geographic Endeavour.
