1 arrested, 3 stolen cars located in joint investigation

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) – One man was arrested and three stolen cars were found after a joint investigation between Berkeley County deputies and Summerville police.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, the agencies were working on leads for a rash of stolen cars in Pringletown when they spotted 51-year-old Samuel Cooper III driving a 2013 Dodge Ram that had been reported stolen.

Officers executed a search warrant at his Gilliard Road home in Ridgeville and found another car, a Chrysler 300, that was reportedly stolen. The Dodge and the Chrysler had both been stolen from Summerville.

Officers reportedly found a utility trailer and a Bobcat steer loader that had been reported stolen from North Charleston.

The vehicles were valued at $108,000.

Cooper was charged with three counts of receiving and possessing stolen vehicles, one count of receiving and possession of stolen goods, two counts of operating a chop shop, and one count of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.

Cooper is being held in the Hill-Finklea Detention Center on a $140,000 bond.
