CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police officials are holding a town hall meeting to ask residents to tell their stories and share their ideas for a better community.

The meeting will be held Thursday, April 24 at Stiles Point Elementary School. That's located at 883 Mikell Drive on James Island. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. nd will run until 8 p.m.

"We want as many citizens of the city of Charleston as possible to attend our Town Hall meeting," said CPD spokesperson Charles Francis. "Please pass it on to your neighbors."

Part of the message of the meeting is to ask residents to challenge themselves to do positive things for the community.

  • Challenge your neighbors to curb and pick up after their pets.
  • Challenge your family to meet their neighbors.

  • Challenge your family to always call the police when you see suspicious activity.
  • Challenge yourself to be more involved in your neighborhood.
  • Challenge your family to volunteer.
