CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) --Mt. Pleasant police officials say an armed robbery took place at an eyewear shop near the Sonic on Highway 17 at Hwy 41 Tuesday.

Charleston County Sheriff's deputies responded to Eye Pifany Eyewear.  Mt. Pleasant police say it falls under CCSO jurisdiction.

CCSO officials said a slender black man in his early 20's rode up to the store on a bicycle, entered and demanded money after showing a handgun.

He reportedly took the cash drawer and left the scene, leaving his bike behind. No one was injured.

MTPPD assisted with establishing the perimeter and searching for a suspect along with CCSO air support and K9 units.
