CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The Coast Guard has identified the owner of a kite surfboard that was found on the beach at Isle of Palms.

Officials said Saturday afternoon that the kite boarder came forward after seeing reports of the kite board and the search for a possibly missing kite surfer. He was reportedly headed to pick up the kite board around 2 p.m. Saturday.

According to officials, the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center was notified by the county dispatch of the board found near 14th Avenue.

Coast Guard crewmembers aboard a rescue boat and a helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, spent Friday night and Saturday morning searching for a possible missing person.

Charleston and Isle of Palms fire departments helped the Coast Guard.
