Posted: Updated:
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Ladson man tried to shoot his girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself Saturday morning.

According to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet, 25-year-old Douglas Moses died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a drunken argument with his girlfriend. Nisbet said the Moses shot at his girlfriend and then shot and killed himself.

Dorchester County deputies said they were called to the Mickler Drive home around 2 a.m. Saturday after the girlfriend ran to a neighbor's home to call 911. She reportedly told dispatchers that she had been shot by her boyfriend.

When deputies arrived and secured the home, they found Moses' body.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday, Nisbet said. Moses' girlfriend was taken to Medical University Hospital for treatment. The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the matter.
