CCSD: Lockdown lifted on 5 North Charleston schools

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston County School District officials confirm that five schools were placed under lockdown Friday afternoon. It was lifted after about an hour.

A North Charleston Police official said officers were responding to reports of shots fired in the area of Upjohn Street.

The schools included Liberty Hill Academy, Academic Magnet School of the Arts,  Hursey Elementary, and North Charleston Creative Arts Elementary.

The schools were put on administrative (code yellow) lock down as a precaution due to police activity in the area.
