SC Inland Port to get more landscaping

Posted: Updated:

GREER, S.C. (AP) - The Greer City Council will help pay for additional landscaping in an effort to reduce noise from traffic at the South Carolina Inland Port.

The Greenville News reported ( that the project has already begun and includes more trees and shrubs. Mayor Rick Danner says the city will contribute $8,100 to the landscaping.

Ports Authority spokesman Erin Pabst says that agency has committed $25,000, and the city has agreed to oversee the project.

Danner says he hopes the additional landscaping will reduce noise significantly over time.

Greer resident James Center says the money should go toward installing berms, which he says would reduce noise and vibration more than trees.
