Arrest made after pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Highway 41

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car Monday night in Berkeley County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 41 near Secondary Road 35.

The Berkeley County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 17-year-old Clyde Cleveland, Jr. of Pineville.

Officials say the car that hit the person did not stay at the scene. Troopers made an arrest Tuesday.

The suspect, 32-year-old Brian Marryo Singleton from Pineville, is charged with leaving the scene of a wreck involving death and Driving Under Suspension.

He was given a bond of $250,652.50.
