'Junior Girls Day Out' pairing with Best Buy to offer tech program

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Since 2007, "Junior Girls Day Out" has helped more than 1,800 young women become well-rounded individuals.

The organization offers 22 education, career, personal and cultural development programs for girls ages 6-12. All of those program activities and meals are free.

On Wednesday, "Junior Girls Day Out" founder Kathy Jackson will be on the ABC News 4 Volunteer Phonebank to talk about the organization's Geek Squad Academy.

The program is sponsored by Best Buy, and offers hands-on lesson plans for youth and teens through the latest technology. The Academy covers digital photography, digital film production, digital literacy, robotics, 3D printing and digital music.

If you would like more information on how to get your child involved in "Junior Girls Day Out" please call into the Phonebank between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The number is 881-5837.
