Police: North Charleston man wanted for drug crimes found with drugs

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A North Charleston man who was wanted on drug charged by Charleston police was arrested Tuesday when officers found he was carrying drugs.

According to police, 34-year-old Niram Phoenix was wanted for distributing cocaine and had four outstanding warrants from October 2013. Police served the warrants after a drug sweep on Romney Street.

Police say Phoenix was carrying 6.5 grams of cocaine and 3.7 grams of cocaine base at the time of his arrest.

He was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of cocaine base with the intent to distribute.

Phoenix is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center on a $450,000 bond.
