FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) -- The first sea turtle nest of the year was spotted on Folly Beach Monday.

According to officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Charleston District, the mother left her eggs near the county park early Monday morning. They said The Folly Turtle Watch volunteers relocated the nest near 9th Street East to protect it from tidal flooding.

The Army Corps posted a photo of the relocated nest on their Facebook page and asked residents to protect the nest by staying away from it.
