Police respond to North Charleston shooting

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston police responded to Rivers Avenue at Greenridge Road for a reported shooting Thursday.

According to police, the victim was found inside room 240 at the InTown Suites. EMS officials said the man was shot twice and taken to Medical University Hospital.

Investigators said Tai Thach and Andrew Trotter were staying at the hotel and were asked  to leave. The clerk escorted the two men to a room and an argument started between Thach and a housekeeper. Police say Trotter pulled out a gun and pointed it at the housekeeper but then, for unknown reasons, turned the gun on the Thach instead.

Police say Trotter shot Thach and then left the area in Thach's Toyota pickup truck.

Thach, 29, is still at MUSC and is charged with kidnapping and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. A warrant has been issued on Trotter for attempted murder. Police believe he has fled the area.

If anyone has any information on this or any other crime they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
