Police: Teacher arrested for slapping student on rear

BLUFFTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Bluffton Police say a teacher from Bluffton High has been arrested and accused of assaulting a female student.

According to Bluffton Police, officers learned that 45-year-old John Hollman, a Government Economics teacher, walked into a class room where students were watching a movie.

Investigators report Hollman allegedly slapped the female student on the buttocks causing what the student described as minor injury and pain.

School Resource Officers conducted interviews of the victim and witnesses and it said it was an isolated incident.

Police said authorities the Bluffton Police Department Saturday morning. He was charged with assault and battery in the third degree and given a bond of $1,092.50. He was released on his own recognizance.
