NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- With an office already in place in Charleston, a Washington state based aerospace engineering company is planning to further expand in North Charleston.

According to a release from Governor Nikki Haley's office, Pacific Rim Aerospace supplies engineering services and solutions to the Boeing Company. They also list NASA and the US Navy as clients.

Pacific Rim opened an office on East Bay Street earlier this month and now plans a second local facility in North Charleston.

"The timeline for our expansion will be primarily scaled to the growth and need of the Boeing Facility," said Engineering Manager Lance Paish. "We do not have a hard timeline at this point, but we anticipate the growth to take place within the next couple of years."

According to press release, the expansion would bring an estimated 100 jobs into the area. Paish said the positions would include engineering, program management, and office support.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this community and look forward to working with and developing local resources to ensure long-term quality and success to the region," said Jill McCallum, president of Pacific Rim Aerospace. "Starting small, we anticipate growth to exceed 100 new jobs in the coming years. Small businesses will play a key role in helping the region’s large companies meet their committed goals.”

Paish also said the company would be using their corporate Human Relations department, publications like C.E. Weekly, and local advertising to announce the jobs once they are available.

“Our aerospace sector is poised for meteoric growth in the years ahead," said Charleston County Council Chairman Teddie Pryor. "Our engineering talent in the area is growing each year at an impressive rate, and this ‘brain gain’ bodes well for Pacific Rim, The Boeing Company, and other aerospace players."

The release said the expansion means PacRim can now support Boeing and other clients on both coasts.
