Family of 3, pets displaced by North Charleston fire

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A family of three and their pets were displaced by a house fire in North Charleston Friday afternoon.

According to fire officials, the first started around 4 p.m. on Houston Street. When firefighters arrived, the found heavy smoke coming from the two-story home.

Everyone in the home made it out safely and there were no injuries, officials said. Firefighters did rescue one kitten from under a bed.

In 15 minutes, firefighters from Charleston and North Charleston had the fire under control.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
