Dan Davis, Bill Peagler head to runoff in county supervisor race

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) -- County Supervisor Dan Davis will have to keep his campaign going for another race before November's general election.

With all precincts reporting, Davis holds a 44-to-39 percent lead over Bill Peagler. Davis is the incumbent in the race.

"I’m just very appreciative of the voters of Berkeley County for their faith and confidence in me," said Davis, while hosting his watch party at The Barony House in Moncks Corner.

Around the corner, Peagler held a similar party with his family and supporters.

"Tonight, the people have spoken. I feel uplifted that the vote was as close as it was," said Peagler.

Both candidates bring different skills to the ballot. Peagler is the current mayor of Moncks Corner and has served in the position for the last 10 years. Davis has been county supervisor for the last 8 years and was once city manager for Hanahan.

"I know that he and I have different visions, as far as how to manage things," said Peagler when asked how he differs from his run-off opponent. "In Moncks Corner we have taken and become more efficient so we haven’t had to raise taxes."

When Davis was asked the same question he responded, "I’m going to run a positive campaign. I’m going to run on my record about what we’ve been able to accomplish and that’s what we are going to continue to do for the next two weeks."

Peagler says a run-off is scheduled for June 24.
