Flag Day events planned around Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Several organizations are celebrating the American Flag this weekend. June 14 is Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the American Flag in 1777.
 

The Charleston Museum

The public is invited to gather in the Charleston Museum Courtyard to join millions of voices around the world as they sing the National Anthem. The event is free and will be simulcast live online.

Patriots Point

The Knights of Columbus and the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate Flag Day by holding a special ceremony on the Flight Deck of the USS Yorktown.

Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center

Kids can enjoy fun free activities at the Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center in downtown Charleston. All of the Flag Day activities will take place outdoors in a shaded area.

The Third Annual Flag Day Burger and Beer Festival will be held, benefiting both Charleston Animal Society and Pet Helpers.
