Two people are in custody after an overnight shootout on Griswold Road. It happened shortly before 3 am.

Chief Leon Davis said it is believed to have begun following an altercation at a Bessemer club, and one suspect possibly followed the victim home.

According to the victim, Jonathan Williams shot at him during the altercation. The victim said he saw Williams, and his accomplice, Robert Jones, approach his house with weapons drawn. That's when the victim confronted the pair, and the gunfire began.

Jones was wounded during the exchange and is recovering with non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital. Both men have been formally charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Williams will be transported to the Jefferson County Jail.

Police removed several shell casings from the scene, and a neighbor reported damage to his yard and vehicle.
