Pelham's 6th Annual Flag Day Celebration

Posted: Updated:
The country celebrates a very special National Flag Day.  Saturday marks the 200th anniversary of our National Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner".
As part of it,  Pelham leaders and Cahaba Valley Elks came together for Pelham's 6th Annual Flag Day celebration.
The event was held at the Pelham Civic Center. It included a presentation of colors and historical flags. Pelham Mayor, Gary Waters, offered greetings to the crowd and comments on what it means to be a patriot.  He also urged people to move forward with a more unified and patriotic spirit.
"When our enemies come after us they don't discriminate on who they're going to kill based upon your party affiliation. They're out to kill Americans. Why can't we stop being democrats and republicans and revere our flag and salute our flag as Americans?," said Mayor Gary Waters.
After the presentations, the crowd gathered at the Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge for Refreshments.
