COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The South Carolina House is overriding most of Gov. Nikki Haley's vetoes in the budget lawmakers recently approved.

The Republican governor vetoed about $18 million in spending in the $7 billion spending plan that takes effect July 1.

It takes a two-thirds vote by the House and Senate to override vetoes.

So far, items the House is voting to sustain are clean-up clauses that designate no money. The votes continue.

Representatives have not yet taken up Haley's rejection of a $12,000 increase for lawmakers' expenses in their home districts. She said the General Assembly should ask voters if they approve of such an increase.

Lawmakers are scheduled to finish their work this week.
