Police: North Charleston man shot on trip to get snacks

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- One person was wounded in a shooting Monday evening in North Charleston when he left his home to get snacks.

According to North Charleston police, witnesses told officers that the victim left his home on Alabama Drive to go to the A-1 Food Store to get snacks. During his walk, he was shot.

Charleston County Dispatch officials said a person was wounded in a shooting and taken to Medical University Hospital by a private car.

Witnesses told officers a black man wearing a black or gray shirt and a had in new new Toyota with out-of-state tags fired the shots, police said.

The victim ran home where his sister took him to MUSC. Police said his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police are still looking into the incident.
