Roddy White returns for foundation camp

Posted: Updated:

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Roddy White is back on James Island this week for the fifth annual Keeping the Faith Foundation Camp at his old high school.

It's been a tough year for the Atlanta Falcon both privately and professionally.

On the field, his Falcons went 4-12 and White was forced to miss games for the first time in his career due to injury.

Much tougher though was the shooting death of his younger brother last month.

But on Tuesday, he was back home with the kids at his camp, working with his foundation.

Hundreds of future Trojans surrounded White and his friend and New York Jet, quarterback Michael Vick.

What could have been an emotional return, was instead one of strength.

"That was an unfortunate situation our family had to go through. We're getting through every day. This camp is just something that helps us get through this. We're out here to have fun and to see these kids smile, and run and laugh it brings us smiles," he said.

And Vick says he's there for anything White needs.

"Any time Roddy asks me to do something and I'm free, I'm there for him. I understand that importance of football camps, the impact this has on the community. To be able to come out here and support that is a pleasure and an honor," Vick said.

The camp runs through the next few days and several more NFL stars will be stopping by to talk with the kids and teach them a few tricks.
