Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying armed robbery suspect who pistol-whipped a person Friday afternoon.

According to the sheriff's office, the robbery happened on Player Street in the Greentown area of Georgetown County. Deputies said they were in Greentown on a different case when they saw a man walking down the street; his face was covered in blood.

When deputies asked about the blood, the man said he had just been robbed and hit in the face with a gun. Deputies say the unknown suspect ran in the woods off of Player Road toward McDonald Road where they think he left in a car.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’9”, 160 pounds wearing a white shirt with white pants and armed with a handgun.

Anyone who has any information on the identity of the suspect, who may have witnessed the robbery, or has any information about the robbery is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 546-5102.
