July 4th celebrations explode across the Lowcountry

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- If you're still looking for a place to celebrate Independence Day, here's a roundup of local events being held this weekend.


MONCKS CORNER

While a parade and street party are planned for the Fourth, according to the city's website, the fireworks show is scheduled for Saturday. Click here for more information.


SUMMERVILLE

Red, White and Blue on the Green will take place at Gahagan Park. There will be live music, food trucks and a beer garden. The event is free and open to the public. Click here for more information.

The Dorchester Shrine is celebrating the 4th with food, fun and fireworks and families get in for only $5 per car. Click here for directions.


GOOSE CREEK

The Fabulous 4th on the Creek will once again be held behind Goose Creek's City Hall. The evening of fun will feature live music, a children's area, food vendors and a fireworks display. Click here for more information


NORTH CHARLESTON

The City of North Charleston is once again boasting the "Lowcountry's largest 4th of July fireworks show" will be held at their 4th of July Festival. The event will be held at Riverfront Park and will also include musical guests, children activities, food trucks, craft vendors, a laser light show. Click here for more information.

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON

Military families with a valid I.D. can celebrate the 4th at JBC's Short Stay Recreation Area. Events are planned throughout the weekend with fireworks scheduled for Saturday night. Click here for more information.


CHARLESTON

Revolutionary activities are planned for all ages at Middleton Place including readings of the Declaration of Independence, a hands-on military drill and Colonial crafts and games. Click here for more information.

Another reading of the Declaration of Independence will be held on the steps of the Old Exchange Building by the Washington Light Infantry Friday morning. Click here for more information.

A cookout will be held at Hampstead Park Friday afternoon. PRIDE (People Ready to Improve and Develop the Environment) invites Lowcountry residents to enjoy fun, food and entertainment. Click here for more information.

If you like a little baseball to start off your 4th, the Riverdogs will be playing the Rome Braves Friday night at the Joe. A fireworks show will light up the stadium after the game. Click here for info and tickets.

MOUNT PLEASANT

The USS Yorktown will have three ways to enjoy their Fourth of July Blast. Visitors can either go the VIP route which includes an open bar, buy tickets to watch the fireworks from the deck (food, drinks and live music provided), or grab a spot on the lawn for free (parking not included). Beach music will fill the night at the Mt. Pleasant Pier during the CCPRC Uncle Sam Jam. As party-goers shag the night away, they can catch a glimpse of the fireworks display going on over the harbor. Click here for ticket information.

SULLIVAN'S ISLAND

July 4th celebrations start early on Sully's with a community bike and golf cart parade Friday morning with a fish fry at the end. Later that evening, fireworks and music will fill out the fourth at Stith Park. Click here for more information.


ISLE OF PALMS

The Isle of Palms pier will be off limits as the city launches their fireworks show around 9 p.m. Friday. Onlookers can watch from Front Beach and organizers remind the public that no personal fireworks or alcohol is allowed.


FOLLY BEACH

A fireworks display is planned for 9:30 p.m. at the 2nd Street East Beach Access

RAVENEL

The Bostic Law Firm is sponsoring a July 4th Pot Luck Benefit Bash at Peaceful Way Farm to help raise funds for a new orphanage in Myanmar. Barbeque, hot dogs and fried chicken will be served but guests are asked to bring a side dish.
